Job Summary

Shugulika Africa Limited is seeking a technically robust and results-oriented Procurement Manager to lead the sourcing and procurement of spare parts, tires, lubricants, and workshop consumables for a fleet of fuel tankers and flatbed trucks. The fleet predominantly comprises Chinese brands including HOWO, FAW, and CIMC. This role demands deep technical knowledge of heavy-duty truck components, established relationships with local Tanzanian vendors, and the flexibility to handle shift work and urgent procurement needs. The successful candidate will be instrumental in minimizing vehicle downtime and optimizing fleet operational costs through strategic sourcing and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement of OEM and aftermarket parts for trucks and trailers, with a specific focus on Chinese brands such as HOWO, FAW, and CIMC.
  • Source and verify technical components including tires, batteries, lubricants, and filters based on scheduled and unscheduled maintenance requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with reliable local and regional suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
  • Coordinate closely with workshop and fleet management teams to forecast spare part requirements and proactively reduce vehicle downtime.
  • Handle urgent procurement and expedited delivery of parts for breakdowns, including after-hours and roadside support.
  • Track and manage all procurement processes using ERP systems and advanced Excel, maintaining accurate records and generating regular reports.
  • Ensure stock availability of critical spares and consumables for both routine and emergency maintenance schedules.
  • Oversee quality assurance and regulatory compliance for all procured goods, including import documentation and adherence to local standards.
  • Monitor tire and lubricant usage, ensuring compatibility with vehicle specifications and performance safety.
  • Provide technical support regarding part alternatives and cost-effective solutions to support efficient fleet operations.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Procurement, Logistics, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in spare parts procurement for heavy commercial vehicles, specifically including Chinese brands such as HOWO, FAW, and CIMC.
  • Strong knowledge of local Tanzanian parts markets, tire suppliers, and lubricant dealers.
  • Proven proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel.
  • Solid understanding of Tanzanian transport regulations and fleet maintenance cycles.
  • Demonstrated integrity, organizational skills, and a proactive, initiative-driven approach.
