We are building a robust, compliant, and high-performance trading operation, and we are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Operations and Settlements Manager to lead our team in Uganda. In this critical role, you will be responsible for overseeing the complete daily operations of our trading desk for FX, Bonds, and Digital Assets. You will ensure strict adherence to regulatory requirements, manage risk exposure with precision, and guarantee the smooth, timely settlement of all transactions. Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the trading desk, encompassing both middle and back-office functions, while closely monitoring market movements and providing insightful market analysis to the trading team.
• Ensure full compliance with all local regulatory policies, guidelines, and reporting requirements for FX, Bonds, and Digital Assets transactions, proactively adapting to changes in the legal framework.
• Develop, document, and implement robust operational policies and procedures to enhance efficiency, security, and customer satisfaction, ensuring scalability as the business grows.
• Oversee the entire settlement process for FX, Bonds, and Digital Assets transactions, including the meticulous reconciliation of trade confirmations, verification of payment instructions, and timely resolution of any discrepancies or operational issues.
• Liaise effectively with commercial banks, payment service providers, custodians, and other external counterparties to facilitate seamless FX execution and cross-border payments and settlements.
• Manage the risk exposure of the trading desk, including setting and enforcing trading limits, monitoring real-time positions, and immediately reporting any limit breaches or risk incidents to senior management.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and auditable records of all transactions, daily reports, and regulatory audit trails, supporting both internal and external audit requirements.
• Train, mentor, and supervise a team of operations and settlements staff, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and adherence to best practices.
• Stay continuously updated on the latest trends, technological developments, and market dynamics in the FX and securities markets, both regionally and globally, to inform strategic decision-making.
