  • We are a dedicated non-governmental organization committed to providing quality education for hundreds of orphans and children from extremely impoverished families who cannot afford school fees. Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty through accessible learning opportunities.

  • We have access to a piano, guitars, and a collection of music books, as well as use of a local church facility that serves as a spacious venue for music practice, dance rehearsals, and creative movement sessions.
  • We are seeking passionate volunteers to teach languages, sports, dance, or any other skills you possess. Your expertise can inspire our children and expand their horizons through hands-on, practical learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and lead engaging lessons in your area of expertise, whether it be English, math, science, art, music, or physical education, ensuring activities are age-appropriate and inclusive.
  • Facilitate language classes to improve conversational skills, reading comprehension, and writing abilities, using creative methods such as storytelling, games, and group discussions.
  • Organize and supervise sports activities, including football, volleyball, and athletics, to promote teamwork, physical fitness, and healthy lifestyle habits among the children.
  • Conduct dance or music workshops utilizing the available instruments and space, encouraging self-expression, confidence, and cultural appreciation through performance.
  • Mentor and support individual students who may need extra attention, helping them build self-esteem and academic motivation in a nurturing environment.
  • Collaborate with local staff to assess student progress, adapt teaching strategies, and identify new opportunities for skill-building programs.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, or volunteer work with children, especially in underserved communities, is highly valued but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with children from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating patience, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following areas: language instruction (English, French, or local dialects), sports coaching, dance, music, arts and crafts, or vocational skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work with limited resources, maximizing the potential of available materials and spaces to create impactful learning experiences.
  • A genuine commitment to the organization's mission and a willingness to dedicate a minimum of two weeks to ensure continuity and meaningful relationships with the children.
  • Basic proficiency in English for communication with the local team; knowledge of the local language is a plus but not required.
