• This is a full-time, volunteer-based opportunity with International Medical Corps, stationed in Uganda. The role is critical to delivering emergency medical services in underserved and crisis-affected communities across the region.
• As a Volunteer Paramedic, you will provide direct pre-hospital emergency care, triage patients, and stabilize individuals during medical emergencies, accidents, or natural disasters. You will work alongside local healthcare teams to strengthen emergency response systems and build capacity among community health workers.
• Key responsibilities include responding to emergency calls, assessing patient conditions, administering advanced life support (ALS) and basic life support (BLS) interventions, and ensuring safe patient transport to medical facilities. You will also participate in training sessions, drills, and public health education campaigns to enhance community resilience.
• This role requires certification as a Paramedic (e.g., EMT-P, CCP, or equivalent) from an accredited institution, with a minimum of two years of field experience in emergency medical services. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in trauma care, cardiac life support, and pediatric emergencies, as well as familiarity with resource-limited settings.
• Volunteers must possess excellent communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in remote or austere environments. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of local languages (e.g., Swahili or Luganda) is a strong advantage.
• International Medical Corps provides comprehensive training, equipment, and logistical support, including accommodation and transportation in the field. Volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of six months to ensure continuity of care and program impact.
