Job Summary

We are searching for a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager to lead the expansion of our digital financial services in Uganda. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and expansion of Fido by overseeing the introduction of new and current products, establishing strategic partnerships, fostering innovation, and conducting comprehensive market research. This role is critical to scaling our operations and ensuring that our product offerings meet the evolving needs of the Ugandan market.

Key Responsibilities

Work closely with the Product team on the development of new products and innovative solutions according to the company's product roadmap, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and customer needs.

Conduct detailed market research and gather customer insights to support the design of optimal product solutions that address pain points and enhance user experience for Fido customers.

Identify, establish, and nurture strategic partnerships with key organizations, including financial institutions, mobile network operators, and technology providers, to facilitate the successful launch and distribution of products outlined in the company's roadmap.

Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including potential partners, regulatory authorities, and industry influencers, to foster trust and collaboration. Represent the company in high-level negotiations and discussions with external parties to secure favorable terms and long-term agreements.

Gather competitive intelligence and conduct thorough analysis of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies. Derive data-driven decisions, refine business strategies, and identify growth opportunities for new and existing products in the company's roadmap.

Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to drive the expansion of the company's existing and new products across Uganda, including geographic expansion and customer acquisition initiatives. Lead efforts in raising debt and securing funding to support expansion initiatives and operational scale.

Foster a collaborative and results-driven culture within the team. Recruit on demand, mentor, and lead a high-performing business development team, setting clear goals, providing regular feedback, and ensuring professional growth for all team members.

Qualifications And Requirements

Proven track record of at least 7 years in leading Business Strategy, Product Development, Digital Banking, Fintech, or Partnerships within a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus and strongly preferred for candidates seeking senior leadership opportunities.

Proven experience in contributing to the development of innovative digital financial products and services, with a deep understanding of user-centered design and agile development methodologies.

Extensive experience in identifying, negotiating, and managing strategic partnerships that deliver measurable business outcomes, including revenue growth and market share expansion.

Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders across different levels and functions.

Proven record of leading enhanced product research to identify valuable information before a new product goes to market, including customer segmentation, competitive analysis, and feasibility studies.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, interpret, and act on market intelligence and data to drive strategic decisions and optimize business performance.

Experience in making data-driven decisions and using key performance indicators to track progress, identify opportunities, and mitigate risks.

Solid understanding of financial concepts and products, including budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and financial analysis to support business case development and investment decisions.

Familiarity with the regulatory environment in Uganda's fintech and financial services sector, including licensing requirements, compliance standards, and reporting obligations.
