About the Role

NVIDIA, known as the AI computing company, is seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to join their Graphics driver team in a fully remote capacity. This role is open to candidates within the United States and focuses on designing, developing, and delivering cutting-edge driver solutions for next-generation GPU designs on Linux platforms. The primary emphasis is on creating advanced performance features for Vulkan and OpenGL software, ensuring that NVIDIA remains at the forefront of graphics innovation.

As a key member of the team, you will work on the definition, design, and development of pioneering professional and consumer Linux Vulkan and OpenGL graphics software performance features. This includes optimizing rendering pipelines, shader execution, and memory management to achieve the highest possible frame rates and visual fidelity. You will also develop and maintain software technologies targeted at enabling and supporting NVIDIA's GPU hardware on Linux operating systems, ensuring best-in-class performance and cross-platform implementation across diverse hardware configurations.

Collaboration is critical to this role. You will work closely with other worldwide internal teams, including software, hardware, architecture, and OEM support groups, to ensure seamless integration of driver components and to address performance bottlenecks at the system level. This position offers the opportunity to influence the direction of graphics technology and contribute to products used by millions of professionals and consumers globally.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement innovative performance features for Vulkan and OpenGL graphics drivers on Linux, focusing on reducing latency, increasing throughput, and optimizing resource utilization.

Develop and maintain low-level software components that interface directly with NVIDIA GPU hardware, ensuring stability and performance across a wide range of Linux distributions and kernel versions.

Conduct thorough performance analysis and profiling of graphics workloads, identifying opportunities for optimization in rendering, shader compilation, and memory management.

Collaborate with hardware architects to influence future GPU designs based on real-world software performance data and emerging industry trends.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the graphics driver team.

Support OEM partners and internal teams by troubleshooting complex performance issues and delivering timely patches or enhancements.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer science, or computer engineering (or equivalent practical experience).

Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience developing graphics OpenGL or Vulkan system-level software, specifically for the Linux operating system.

At least 3 years of experience in graphics rendering, shader programming, compiler development, and performance optimization techniques.

8+ years of professional programming experience in C and C+, with a strong understanding of memory management, multithreading, and low-level system programming.

Deep knowledge of Linux operating system internals, including memory and resource management, process scheduling and control, and hardware virtualization technologies.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Self-motivated and collaborative mindset, with a positive attitude and a passion for graphics technology.

Prior experience with shader compiler development is highly desirable and will be considered a strong advantage.

Benefits and Compensation

Competitive salary range of $184,000 to $288,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.

Comprehensive equity package, including stock options or restricted stock units, aligning your success with the company's growth.

Full benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.

Remote work flexibility, allowing you to work from anywhere in the United States while collaborating with a world-class team.

Opportunity to work on groundbreaking technology that powers AI, autonomous vehicles, gaming, and professional visualization.
