Skillbridge Overview
- This job posting is specific to the Department of Defense Skillbridge program and is open only to personnel eligible to apply for a DoD Skillbridge program. Any rank, enlisted or officer, may apply for SkillBridge. SkillBridge permits you to use up to the last 180 days of active service to train and learn with an industry partner. During SkillBridge participation, you continue to receive full military compensation and benefits, and you remain covered by your military benefits. Release for SkillBridge is always mission-dependent; your unit commander must authorize participation prior to entering into any agreement with interested industry employment partners. This program is designed to provide valuable civilian work experience and a seamless transition into the private sector. Individuals who are not eligible to participate in the Skillbridge program need not apply.

We are searching for a skilled software developer who can develop and maintain our software platform, providing utility customers with a robust tool to visualize relevant operational, reliability, risk, and environmental data. Role Description
- This is a full-time, remote role for a Software Developer. As a Software Developer at Pitch Aeronautics, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing features that empower utility operators to efficiently manage and monitor their electrical grids. Your responsibilities will include developing robust data integration solutions, designing intuitive user interfaces, and ensuring the platform's scalability and reliability. You will work autonomously and collaboratively to build software that handles real-time sensor data, provides actionable insights, and supports critical decision-making for grid operators. This role requires a proactive, self-starter who can thrive in a remote, fast-paced startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Data Integration Expertise: Utilize your strong skills in data integration to design and implement seamless connections between various data sources, including IoT devices, sensors, and external databases. Ensure data flows are reliable, efficient, and well-documented.
- User Interface Design: Collaborate with UX/UI designers and product managers to create visually appealing and highly intuitive interfaces that provide utility operators with actionable insights. Focus on delivering a user-friendly experience for monitoring and controlling electrical grids in real-time.
- Scalability and Reliability: Architect and develop the platform with a strong focus on scalability and reliability. Ensure that the software can handle large volumes of real-time data from many sensors and maintain high performance under demanding operational conditions.
- API Development: Create, maintain, and document robust APIs that enable seamless communication between the platform and external applications, allowing for easy integration with third-party tools, services, and customer systems.
- Security Measures: Implement and maintain robust security measures to safeguard sensitive utility data. Adhere to industry best practices and relevant compliance standards to protect critical infrastructure information.
- Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, quality assurance engineers, hardware engineers, and other developers, to ensure a cohesive, well-rounded, and fully integrated software solution.
- Algorithm Development: Design and implement algorithms for various power line analysis tasks and drone operations, such as data anomaly detection, predictive maintenance models, and flight path optimization.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- Proven, demonstrable experience in software development, with a specific focus on data integration, API development, or user interface design for complex systems.
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, or C++.
- Familiarity with modern web development frameworks and technologies (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue.js).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency with containerization technologies, particularly Docker, for application deployment and management.
- Experience with major commercial cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, or GCP. Hands-on experience with serverless architectures or managed services is a plus.
- Active CISSP, Security+, or other DoD 8570 certification demonstrating a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles.
- Familiarization with NIST 800-171 and other relevant cybersecurity controls, frameworks, and compliance standards for protecting sensitive data.
