Position Overview

Galaxy International School Uganda (GISU) is seeking a dedicated and passionate Year 2 Class Teacher to join our vibrant, multicultural community. As a Lower Primary Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping globally minded learners through the Cambridge International Curriculum. Your classroom will be a hub of creativity, inclusivity, and meaningful learning, where every child is inspired to explore, question, and grow. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to work in an international environment with over 40 nationalities represented among students and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Design and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in English, Science, Mathematics, and Global Perspectives for learners aged 5 to 6 years, ensuring each lesson fosters curiosity and critical thinking.

Use ongoing assessment and data analysis to track student progress, identify areas for improvement, and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs.

Integrate modern technology and innovative teaching strategies effectively to enhance learning experiences and develop students’ independent problem-solving skills.

Create a safe, supportive classroom culture where every child feels valued, motivated, and encouraged to participate actively in their own learning journey.

Support students’ academic, social, and emotional development by building strong relationships and implementing positive behavior management techniques.

Partner with parents as active contributors to the learning process through regular communication, parent-teacher conferences, and collaborative goal setting.

Collaborate with fellow teachers and school leadership to continuously improve teaching practices, share resources, and align curriculum delivery across grade levels.

Contribute to school life by organizing and participating in events, educational trips, and extracurricular activities that enrich the student experience and strengthen community bonds.

Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field from an accredited institution.

Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in a lower primary or early years setting.

Valid teaching credential or license recognized by the relevant educational authority.

Demonstrated experience delivering the Cambridge International Curriculum is highly desirable.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children; a comprehensive background check, including professional and character references and recent criminal record checks, will be required prior to employment.
