Financial Services Managing Consultant - Regulatory Risk

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a Financial Services team in conjunction with Associate Directors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of high-quality advisory services at client sites and in accordance with firm standards.
• Lead and manage an agreed client portfolio for the service line and regional area, building strong relationships and identifying additional work opportunities.
• Support the Associate Director in preparing strategy documentation for each client, including fully costed service delivery proposals for Director/Partner approval.
• Control and manage the delivery of client programmes to ensure work is completed on time and within budget, providing solutions for any issues.
• Plan and utilise team members effectively in line with approved budget, including complex scheduling to optimise profitability.
• Monitor quality of work through effective manager review, ensuring high standards are maintained.
• Engage with client billing in line with firm timescales, addressing issues that may impact billing and recovery targets.
• Deal with day-to-day team matters, including performance feedback, appraisals, recruitment, team welfare, and health and safety.
• Build relationships with new clients and identify/act upon potential additional work opportunities.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

• Extensive, hands-on FCA regulatory compliance experience, ideally within the UK financial services sector.
• Deep understanding of the FCA Handbook, including SYSC, PRIN (including Consumer Duty), COBS, MCOB, ICOBS, CONC, DISP, and financial crime requirements.
• Consultancy or advisory experience, preferably within a leading professional services firm, delivering regulatory projects and managing competing client demands.
• Proven experience in regulatory interpretation, compliance monitoring, thematic reviews, horizon scanning, regulatory mapping, gap analysis, and drafting or enhancing policies and control frameworks.
• Strong awareness of current and emerging FCA priorities, industry thematic issues, and enforcement trends.
• Dynamic, ambitious, and proactive approach with strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Sound knowledge of UK financial services sector and regulatory landscape, including familiarity with FCA and PRA.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to interact with senior individuals.
• Willingness to travel to client sites, limited where possible to one and a half hours each way.
