Software Engineer 2 (Remote)

About the Role

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend and frontend systems that power critical revenue cycle operations, including payments processing, claims submission, and complex operational workflows. You will own the technical roadmap for systems that directly impact the company's financial health and provider satisfaction.
• Apply deep software engineering fundamentals and product-centric thinking to architect elegant solutions for some of the most challenging operational problems in healthcare technology. This includes optimizing for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency at scale.
• Collaborate intensively with cross-functional teams spanning engineering, revenue cycle operations, product management, and business stakeholders. You will translate complex operational requirements into technical designs, drive implementation, and measure the impact of your work on key business metrics.
• Champion a culture of continuous improvement by proactively identifying system bottlenecks, proposing architectural enhancements, and contributing to the evolution of engineering best practices within the team. You will be expected to lead technical discussions and mentor junior engineers.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related engineering discipline is strongly preferred. Equivalent practical experience will be considered.
• A minimum of 3 years of professional software engineering experience in a fast-paced, product-driven environment. Demonstrable experience delivering production-quality code is essential.
• Proven track record of working directly with product managers and design teams to refine requirements, scope features, and deliver user-centric solutions. You understand the balance between technical excellence and product velocity.
• Extensive experience building highly responsive, scalable, reliable, available, and performant distributed systems. You understand trade-offs in system design and can articulate them clearly.
• Demonstrated ability to drive all phases of the development lifecycle from initial planning and technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and post-launch maintenance. You own outcomes, not just tasks.
• Intermediate to advanced understanding of modern application architecture, including API design patterns (RESTful and GraphQL), data modeling (SQL and NoSQL), security best practices, performance optimization, and horizontal scaling. For frontend work, you must be proficient in component-based design, state management (e.g., Redux, Zustand), and rendering performance.
• Experience working at startup or high-growth stage companies, where ambiguity is common and resourcefulness is critical. You thrive in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities.
• High personal awareness and a strong growth mindset. You actively seek feedback, learn from failures, and are committed to your own professional development as well as the growth of your peers.
• Hands-on production experience with some of the following technologies: React, Node.js, TypeScript, Kafka, AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS), or equivalent cloud-native tools.
• Comfortability with on-call rotations and a demonstrated willingness to deep-dive into complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive issues to resolution with urgency and clarity.
• Experience working on medium-complexity projects (typically 2-4 weeks of effort) with a focus on achieving measurable, sustainable results rather than short-term fixes.
