Job Summary

Walmart Global Tech is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Membership Experience Engineering team. In this remote-friendly role, you will lead the delivery of scalable software solutions, manage feature development, and drive continuous integration and testing. You will integrate AI/ML components to enhance platform capabilities, collaborate with stakeholders, and mentor peers to uphold engineering excellence. Key Responsibilities

  • Own scoped feature and model delivery through collaborative engineering teams, managing implementation, iteration, testing, and support.
  • Write clean, efficient, and reliable code across multiple languages, driving full software development lifecycle including CI/CD and automated testing.
  • Integrate AI and ML components to enhance software capabilities and user experiences.
  • Assist in converting high-level designs into detailed, scalable, and maintainable solutions aligned with platform objectives.
  • Conduct code reviews, debugging, and defect management to ensure software quality and performance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements and measurable outcomes.
  • Monitor application performance and support CI and delivery practices.
  • Mentor peers, share knowledge, and promote engineering best practices for continuous improvement.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years of experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 5 years of experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Proven experience in designing and developing features for large-scale applications using Java and Node.js based services.
  • Expertise in object-oriented programming and documentation-based coding practices.
  • Experience working with remote data via REST and GraphQL APIs, JSON, HTTP protocols.
  • Strong technical acumen with experience in code review, debugging, and continuous development.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver scoped features through iterative and incremental development.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML components and leveraging generative AI tools to enhance software solutions.
  • Skilled in designing scalable, secure, and maintainable software aligned with platform and business objectives.
  • Proficient in collaborating across teams to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements.
  • Commitment to engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and mentoring peers.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in a related field with 1 year of experience.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards and inclusive digital experiences.

Salary & Compensation Estimation

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000 to $234,000 in Sunnyvale, California, and $90,000 to $180,000 in Bentonville, Arkansas. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses, stock options, and comprehensive benefits such as medical, vision, dental coverage, 401(k) with company match, stock purchase plan, paid life insurance, paid time off (including sick leave), parental leave, family care leave, and access to Walmart's Live Better U education benefit program that covers tuition, books, and fees for eligible associates. Compensation is competitive and aligned with market rates, reflecting experience and location.
