We are seeking a Business Development and Acquisition Specialist with strong B2B Corporate Business Development experience in a fast-paced, client-focused, and relationship-oriented business environment to join our team in Uganda.
The Role
Why it is important: This role is critical for client acquisitions, retention, and driving business growth strategy at BMU. You will be responsible for developing a network of contacts to attract new clients, researching marketing opportunities, overseeing growth projects, managing sales projects, and forecasting revenue in line with projected income targets. Your efforts will directly impact the company's expansion and market share.
What it covers: As the Business Development and Acquisition Specialist, you will play a key role in identifying and qualifying potential clients during the acquisition process. You will understand client needs and their operating environment, position appropriate recruitment solutions to bridge gaps, collaborate with the delivery team, and ensure a transparent, high-quality experience throughout the client journey. This focus on quality will maximize revenue growth and long-term client loyalty.
Who you will work with: This role is part of the Sales Operations team, reporting directly to the Head of Sales. In addition to working with the core sales team, you will also engage with stakeholders in Recruitment, Customer Service, and Operations to ensure seamless service delivery and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Acquire new clients by contacting potential prospects to establish rapport and arrange meetings. Explore areas of talent need within their businesses and recommend solutions that contribute to their overall business growth.
- In collaboration with the marketing team, plan and oversee initiatives that improve client acquisition from targeted segments, following the stipulated onboarding procedures.
- Manage the full pipeline conversion cycle with aggression and precision. Develop and maintain a pipeline volume of three times the target to guarantee month-on-month revenue attainment, focusing on achieving monthly targets.
- Research organizations to identify if they are the right client fit for the business and if they have needs that align with our offerings. This includes understanding their buying patterns and industry trends.
- Set realistic expectations with clients to increase the value provided at any given time, creating an opportunity pipeline while attracting new clients through positive relationships.
- In collaboration with marketing, find and develop new markets and improve sales strategies to achieve revenue growth targets.
- Attend conferences, meetings, and industry events relevant to the organization to cultivate business relationships, widen professional networks, and gain insight into industry trends.
- Develop specific proposals, source opportunities, and respond to RFQs and RFPs for potential clients in a timely and professional manner.
- Develop individual goals, key results, and initiatives that guide your activities toward the achievement of set revenue and pipeline targets.
Requirements
We are looking for someone who has:
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Five years of proven experience as a Business Development Specialist or Relationship Manager, dealing with B2B, Corporate, or Institutional sales.
- Strong marketing research skills, including the ability to research business opportunities, competitors, and trend analysis.
- Experience working with a Recruitment or HR Consulting firm is an added advantage.
- A very good understanding of different industries within the market and current trends within each industry.
- High comfort level speaking with and selling to others, along with excellent writing skills.
- An active network of key contacts, and the confidence and tact to maintain positive relationships with business decision-makers.
- Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
- Experience managing relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to plan and prioritize work under tight timelines, work on own initiative, and as a member of a team. This involves long-term planning and clear instructions.
- High experience in handling sales negotiations effectively.
