Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Own epics end to end after intake from Product, from story writing and pointing through delivery and release.
• Build across the TypeScript/Node.js back end and the React front end, taking on large, complex problems within your team's domain.
• Report progress on your work regularly and accurately, and escalate risks before they become surprises.
• Partner with Product Managers and senior engineers on technical design and architecture decisions.
• Use AI coding tools as a default part of your workflow, and review what they produce with the same rigor you would apply to your own code.
• Lead company-wide demos of the work your team delivered.
• Review teammates' code in a way that surfaces design concerns, edge cases, and test gaps.
• Take part in scrum ceremonies including refinement, sprint kick-off, standup, demos, and retro.
• Work directly with Product, QA, and UX throughout delivery, not just at the handoff.
• Investigate and resolve issues reported in QA, UAT, and production environments.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

• 3 or more years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production software.
• Strong TypeScript or JavaScript knowledge, with practical depth in both Node.js and React.
• A proven record of carrying a substantial piece of work from ambiguous requirements to released software.
• Comfort with relational databases, SQL, and reasoning about data models.
• Experience with microservices, event-driven architecture, and a cloud platform such as AWS.
• Automated testing as a habit rather than an afterthought.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants, plus the judgment to know when their output is wrong.
• Excellent written communication with a strong command of the English language, which matters more on a fully remote team.
• Ability to reason through technical disagreements with evidence, and to update your position when the evidence shifts.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. or Canada.
