AI-Driven Software Engineer End-to-End (Remote)

Job Summary

OnTheGoSystems, a fully remote and globally distributed team, is seeking an experienced software engineer who can take product ideas from conception through to shipped software, leveraging AI as a core part of the development workflow. In this role, you will own the entire software lifecycle, from designing AI-driven workflows and validation checks to ensuring production quality and performance. Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement end-to-end software features, from database schema to user-facing interfaces, using Ruby on Rails or equivalent back-end technologies.
• Architect and integrate AI workflows into development processes, including code generation, automated testing, and validation checks to enhance productivity and code quality.
• Own the quality assurance of your code, writing and maintaining automated tests to ensure reliability and minimize regressions.
• Monitor production performance, troubleshoot issues, and deploy fixes promptly to maintain high system availability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and designers, to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Continuously evaluate and improve AI-assisted development practices, sharing insights and best practices with the team.
• Maintain and optimize SQL queries and database performance for scalable applications.
• Document technical processes and contribute to internal knowledge bases to foster team learning.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience with Ruby on Rails or other back-end languages and frameworks such as Python (Django), Node.js, or Java.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, including complex queries, database design, and performance tuning.
• A proven habit of testing your own code, with experience in unit, integration, and end-to-end testing frameworks.
• Familiarity with AI tools and platforms (e.g., OpenAI, GitHub Copilot, or similar) and the ability to integrate them into development workflows.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration across time zones.
• A portfolio or GitHub profile demonstrating shipped projects and code quality.

Skills Inventory

• Essential: Ruby on Rails, SQL, Test-Driven Development (TDD), AI integration, Git, RESTful APIs, Agile methodologies, Remote collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Zoom).
• Preferred: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), containerization (Docker), CI/CD pipelines, front-end frameworks (React or Vue.js), and knowledge of machine learning concepts.

Salary & Compensation Estimation

The annual salary for this position is estimated between $120,000 and $170,000, depending on experience and location.
