Staff Software Developer, Internationalization

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a technical stakeholder for multiple projects within your area of focus, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical excellence.
• Partner with development managers in defining the technical roadmap for your area, balancing short-term deliverables with long-term architectural vision.
• Identify and resolve technical 'big rocks' that unblock product opportunities, enabling teams to deliver value faster.
• Write high-quality, well-tested, and maintainable code, following best practices in software engineering.
• Collaborate with a team of developers to solve complex problems and provide elegant solutions that delight Clio customers.
• Recognize when the simple solution is the right one, avoiding over-engineering and promoting pragmatic design.
• Simplify coding patterns, interfaces, and abstractions to make them more approachable, reducing cognitive load for the team.
• Use a wide variety of technologies, continuously learning new things and challenging yourself to grow.
• Review and provide constructive feedback on peer code, both within your own team and across all of Clio, fostering a culture of quality.
• Teach and learn from those around you, providing constructive feedback and being open to feedback to support personal and team growth.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

• Proven experience in software development, specifically with building web applications at scale using Ruby on Rails.
• Demonstrated ability to master new technologies quickly and work effectively in a dynamic, ever-evolving environment that includes distributed teams and customers.
• Track record of success in mentoring software developers, particularly using Agile processes and with large-scale SaaS products.
• A diverse base of technical knowledge that enables you to help your team overcome complex technical hurdles.
• A portfolio of successful projects, along with a collection of lessons learned from failed projects, showcasing your resilience and growth mindset.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with fellow Clions and customers.
• International or global development experience is a plus, but not required.

Salary & Compensation Estimation

Clio offers a competitive, equitable salary for this Staff-level role, with an estimated range of CA$176,000 to CA$264,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
