Job Summary

ICF Consulting Group, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Senior Software Engineer to join our Health Engineering Solutions (HES) team. In this remote role, you will work on high-impact projects supporting the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), helping to empower hundreds of thousands of Medicare enrollees to own and manage their healthcare data. You will design and build innovative solutions for FHIR data authorization services, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance data-sharing and ownership capabilities. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build software processing pipelines using tools and frameworks within the AWS ecosystem, including AWS Glue, Athena, and Lambda.
  • Collaborate with a highly engaged, cross-functional team of software engineers, UX designers and researchers, infrastructure engineers, product owners, and stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Participate in third-party application demonstrations and authorization reviews to ensure compliance with CMS standards and FHIR resource authorization.
  • Perform full-cycle software engineering activities, including design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of healthcare-focused applications.
  • Partner with DevOps engineers on CI/CD initiatives and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools like GitHub Actions and CloudTamer (Kion).
  • Interpret technical specifications and translate requirements into clean, maintainable code and design documentation.
  • Conduct code reviews and contribute to processes that improve code quality, maintainability, and team productivity.
  • Proactively monitor and improve the scalability, performance, and availability of systems in production environments.
  • Deploy solutions within AWS environments and validate results for accuracy and reliability, ensuring compliance with federal security and data privacy requirements.
  • Share knowledge of Spark and distributed processing frameworks to influence design decisions and troubleshoot complex runtime issues.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience in high-volume, production environments.
  • 2+ years of experience working with Python in a professional setting.
  • 2+ years of experience migrating applications or code to cloud environments, preferably AWS.
  • 2+ years of experience working within Agile development methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust clearance.
  • Must reside in the United States, be authorized to work in the United States, and perform all work within the United States.
  • Must have lived in the United States for at least three of the last five years.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status strongly preferred due to federal contract requirements.
  • Master's degree and 5+ years of technical experience preferred.
  • Experience working in the healthcare industry with PHI/PII data is preferred.
  • Federal government contracting experience is preferred.
  • Experience working as part of a dynamic, collaborative Agile team is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Prior experience working remotely in a full-time capacity is preferred.

Salary & Compensation Estimation

The pay range for this position is $98,614 to $167,644 per year, based on full-time employment. This range is determined by factors including relevant work experience, skills, certifications, competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education, and contract provisions regarding labor categories.
