Job Summary

Walmart Global Tech is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our International Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team. In this senior-level role, you will design and build robust backend systems that power seamless digital experiences for millions of customers across 23 countries. You will work with cutting-edge technologies, including cloud platforms, automation pipelines, and AI/ML models, to ensure the reliability and scalability of our global retail platforms. This is a fully remote, full-time opportunity for a seasoned engineer who thrives on complex challenges and wants to make a tangible impact on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable applications for SRE operations using Node.js, Java, or Python.
• Automate repeatable tasks and jobs using CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins and similar tools.
• Manage and optimize databases and messaging queues such as MySQL, Cassandra, Kafka, ActiveMQ, Azure SQL DB, and Solr.
• Implement and maintain cloud-based solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure.
• Integrate AI/ML models and algorithms to solve complex SRE problems, leveraging frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features that enhance system reliability and performance.
• Ensure the performance, security, and responsiveness of applications across global markets.
• Monitor system health, identify bottlenecks, and implement proactive improvements.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices in SRE and software engineering.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with a focus on backend systems.
• Proficiency in Node.js and Python, with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with cloud platforms, specifically GCP and Azure.
• Experience with AI/ML technologies, frameworks, and libraries such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipeline development.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with experience working in distributed teams.

Salary & Compensation Estimation

Based on the seniority of this role and industry standards, the estimated annual base salary ranges from $180,000 to $250,000 USD, depending on experience and location.
