As a Software Engineer I on the Servicing International team, you will be at the forefront of our global expansion, building the foundational platform to launch our products into new international markets. This role focuses on two critical areas: user purchase protection, including disputes and refunds, and agent tooling, which is essential for delivering exceptional support to our customers. You will collaborate with European engineering counterparts and global teams to build cohesive, scalable solutions. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of our platform, work remotely from Spain, and contribute to a mission-driven company that values innovation, reliability, and user trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build robust backend services using Python or Kotlin, focusing on reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers and ensuring code quality and best practices.
  • Take ownership of your work, from inception to deployment, and proactively seek feedback from team members, managers, and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the on-call rotation to ensure system uptime and address any production issues promptly.
  • Engage in continuous learning and development activities, staying updated with emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Work closely with European engineering counterparts to ensure alignment and cohesion across international teams.
  • Help create visibility and dialog regarding risks and trade-offs associated with your work, ensuring informed decision-making.
  • Support the development of agent tooling to enhance customer support experiences, focusing on usability and efficiency.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

  • Previous work experience or internship in shipping web applications using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and launching software at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
  • Proven ability to take a complex business problem and execute a solution that interacts with multiple software components, writing clean, well-tested, and extensible code.
  • Comfort navigating large codebases, debugging others' code, and providing feedback through code reviews.
  • Demonstrated ownership of projects, proactively seeking feedback and iterating on solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with global engineering teams.
  • Based in Spain (remote), with the ability to work in a remote-first environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Skills Inventory

  • Proficiency in React or Vue for front-end development.
  • Strong backend development skills in Python or Kotlin.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle, including testing, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a plus.
  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Preferred: Experience with fintech or payment systems.
