Job Summary

FlexBoard, a leading financial technology company, is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our global software development team. This is a fully remote, international hire position focused on the design, development, and production support of our high-performance trading software. You will work on low-latency, high-throughput systems that power equities and derivatives platforms for institutional clients. The role requires coverage of the US evening shift (10 PM to 6 AM EST) and is ideal for candidates based outside the US who are comfortable with a night schedule. As part of a dynamic, remote-first team, you will contribute to the entire software development lifecycle and ensure the reliability and performance of mission-critical trading systems. Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle for the FlexBoard trading platform, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain low-latency, high-throughput, event-sourcing applications that handle millions of transactions per day.
  • Provide production support for the trading software, resolving issues quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime and ensure seamless operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including trading desk, operations, and quality assurance, to understand requirements and deliver robust solutions.
  • Perform code reviews, write unit tests, and ensure code quality and maintainability.
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex production issues, using tools such as Wireshark, GIT, and Jenkins.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify areas for improvement, scalability, and optimization.
  • Document technical designs, processes, and procedures to support knowledge sharing and compliance.
  • Work closely with US-based teams during the evening shift, ensuring smooth handoffs and effective communication.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve the platform.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in server-side Java software development.
  • Proven experience in the financial services industry, specifically with US Equities or derivatives trading systems.
  • Strong background in low-latency, high-volume, high-throughput Linux production environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, multi-task, and cover multiple systems simultaneously.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a creative and customer-focused approach.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Broad systems thinking, understanding the interconnections between various functions and entities.
  • Self-starter mindset with a proven track record of succeeding in a remote-first, dynamic environment.
  • Must be willing to work the US evening shift (10 PM to 6 AM EST) and be based outside the US.

Salary & Compensation Estimation

As this is an international remote role, compensation is competitive and based on local market data. For candidates in the US, the estimated annual base salary ranges from 130,000 to 170,000 USD. For international candidates, salaries are benchmarked to local markets, typically ranging from 70,000 to 120,000 USD equivalent, depending on location.
