Job Summary

Lumenii, a proud member of the Xiquel Group, is seeking a skilled and motivated Magento Developer to join their collaborative and multidisciplinary team in Johannesburg. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity to design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performing Magento e-commerce solutions. As a key contributor, you will play a vital role in enhancing the digital commerce experience for a diverse range of clients, implementing new functionality, and improving existing platforms. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Magento-based e-commerce platforms.
  • Build and customise Magento themes, modules, and extensions to meet client requirements.
  • Develop and optimise both front-end and back-end functionality to ensure a seamless user experience.
  • Integrate payment gateways, third-party services, and RESTful APIs to enhance platform capabilities.
  • Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, testers, support teams, and fellow developers to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical and performance-related issues promptly.
  • Conduct code reviews and promote development best practices within the team.
  • Test solutions thoroughly and support reliable deployment processes.
  • Monitor and optimise site speed, security, scalability, and overall performance.
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation for all projects.
  • Support continuous improvements to the digital commerce experience, aligning with business goals.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

  • Strong Magento development experience, with a proven track record of delivering e-commerce solutions.
  • Back-end web development experience using relevant server-side technologies.
  • Proficiency in PHP, object-oriented programming, and modern development frameworks.
  • Front-end development skills, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design principles.
  • Sound e-commerce knowledge, including payment gateways, checkout processes, catalogue management, and security best practices.
  • Experience working with SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience using version-control tools such as Git.
  • Experience integrating RESTful APIs.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • The ability to work effectively within a collaborative, on-site team environment.

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. However, equivalent practical experience will be considered. Experience with performance optimisation, testing tools, or Magento certification would be advantageous.
