Finance System Consultant (6-Month FTC)

Job Summary

Mishcon de Reya LLP, a leading international law firm headquartered in London, is seeking a highly skilled Finance System Consultant for a 6-month fixed-term contract. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation, enhancement, and strategic development of the firm's financial systems, including Aderant ERP, Anaplan, Chrome River, and Intapp. As a key member of the Technology and Finance teams, you will drive transformation projects, manage system configurations, and support business-as-usual activities such as month-end close and helpdesk resolution. Key Responsibilities

• Define and drive the product vision and strategy for finance systems, ensuring alignment with business goals and future scalability.
• Lead continuous improvement of financial systems, analytical capabilities, and reporting, identifying opportunities for enhancement.
• Manage and deliver cross-departmental finance system projects, from requirement gathering via stakeholder workshops to implementation and UAT.
• Oversee the design, build, and testing of finance technology projects, including ODDR implementation and branch office rollouts.
• Act as the bridge between Finance, Transformation, and Technology teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
• Manage key delivery partners, including Report Factory, Aderant, ODDR, Harbour, Intapp, Roox, Anaplan, and Emburse.
• Support system releases and upgrades, ensuring smooth transition to BAU for new modules and solutions.
• Supervise month-end and year-end processes, including issue triage, reporting, reconciliation, and testing.
• Respond to helpdesk tickets, providing second-line support for data requests, reporting, and backend data management.
• Ensure access controls, user administration, and system maintenance (patching, updates) are current and compliant.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in finance systems, specifically with Aderant ERP, within a large, international environment.
• Proven experience in system implementation, data migration, or building out financial/ERP solutions.
• Familiarity with cross-product integrations and hybrid environments (on-premise and cloud).
• Experience with Microsoft Infrastructure stack, including SQL, Power BI, and Excel macros.
• Strong project management skills and experience managing a team.
• Degree educated with an accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is desirable.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Organised, analytical, methodical, and adaptable, with a can-do attitude and cultural awareness.

Skills Inventory

• Essential: Aderant ERP expertise, finance systems management, project management, stakeholder management, SQL, Power BI, Excel macros, data migration, hybrid system architecture.
• Preferred: Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), experience with Anaplan, Chrome River, Intapp Time, AI-based tools like Ayora, and knowledge of legal industry finance processes.

Salary & Compensation Estimation

For a Finance System Consultant with this level of experience in London, a typical annual salary ranges from GBP 70,000 to GBP 95,000, depending on qualifications and exact responsibilities. For a 6-month fixed-term contract, this equates to a pro-rata amount of approximately GBP 35,000 to GBP 47,500.
