Job Summary

FlexBoard, operating under the reputable FCM brand, is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our innovative team in Barcelona. Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and microservices using Ruby on Rails and modern technologies.
• Develop and integrate LLM-powered features such as intelligent search, travel recommendations, document processing, and personalized content delivery.
• Write clean, testable code adhering to industry best practices and participate in code reviews to ensure high quality and maintainability.
• Own features end-to-end, from initial design through deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvement.
• Engineer effective prompts and chains for travel-related use cases, optimizing LLM outputs for accuracy, cost-efficiency, and user value.
• Build and maintain RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems to enable intelligent content retrieval.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and containerized deployments using tools like Azure, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Monitor application performance, respond to incidents, and ensure high system reliability and uptime.
• Collaborate within an Agile/Scrum framework with international team members, contributing to sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Mentor peers, share knowledge across teams, and stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

• 3-5 years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on backend engineering.
• Proficiency in Ruby on Rails or equivalent backend frameworks, with a track record of building robust, scalable services.
• Solid experience with containerization (Docker) and API design principles.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and automated testing.
• Comfortable working in English within an international team environment.
• Demonstrated experience integrating large language models (LLMs) such as OpenAI or Anthropic into production applications.
• Ability to design effective prompts and evaluate AI-generated outputs for quality and relevance.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.

Skills Inventory

• Essential Skills: Backend development (Ruby on Rails), RESTful API design, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (RSpec, Playwright), version control (Git), LLM integration, prompt engineering, RAG systems, performance monitoring.
• Preferred Skills: Knowledge of AI safety, prompt injection prevention, and LLM cost optimization; proficiency in Spanish; experience with React and TypeScript for frontend contributions; familiarity with travel technology or related domains; contributions to open-source projects.

Salary & Compensation Estimation

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary benchmarked to the Barcelona tech market. Based on the seniority level and the company's profile, the expected annual base salary ranges from €50,000 to €75,000, depending on experience and expertise.
