Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement and supply chain strategies aligned with the organizational objectives and business goals.
• Manage the full sourcing cycle, including supplier selection, contract negotiation, and vendor-performance evaluation to ensure optimal quality, cost, and reliability.
• Lead demand planning, inventory management, warehousing, logistics, and distribution activities to ensure seamless operations.
• Ensure the timely availability of products, equipment, materials, and services across all business units.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers, fostering partnerships that drive mutual value.
• Negotiate favorable commercial terms while maintaining high quality and service standards, achieving cost savings without compromising performance.
• Monitor stock levels diligently, implementing robust controls to minimize shortages, excess inventory, damage, and obsolescence.
• Manage importation, customs clearance, transportation, and all related regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• Develop and enforce procurement policies, approval processes, and supplier-management procedures that promote transparency and accountability.
• Monitor supply chain costs continuously, identifying opportunities for savings and operational improvement.
• Prepare comprehensive procurement plans, budgets, forecasts, and management reports to support informed decision-making.
• Identify potential supply chain risks and implement effective mitigation and business-continuity measures to safeguard operations.
• Collaborate closely with operations, finance, commercial, and technical teams to align supply chain strategies with broader organizational objectives.
• Lead, coach, and develop the procurement and supply chain team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
• Ensure full compliance with applicable laws, organizational policies, and ethical procurement practices, upholding the highest standards of integrity.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Commerce, or a closely related field.
• Professional certification such as CIPS, CPSP, or an equivalent qualification is strongly preferred.
• A master’s degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration will be a distinct advantage.
• At least eight years of progressive experience in procurement, logistics, or supply chain management, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility.
• A minimum of three years’ experience in a managerial or leadership position, with a proven ability to lead and develop teams.
• Previous experience within manufacturing, FMCG, distribution, or a related operational industry is essential, as it ensures familiarity with industry-specific challenges and best practices.
• Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and drive decision-making.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
• Proven track record of implementing cost-saving initiatives and improving supply chain efficiency.
• Knowledge of import/export regulations, customs procedures, and international trade compliance.
• Proficiency in supply chain management software and ERP systems, with strong IT literacy.

Salary & Compensation Estimation

Based on industry standards for a senior procurement and supply chain role in Tanzania, the estimated annual salary range is between 60,000,000 and 90,000,000 Tanzanian Shillings (TZS), which translates to approximately 25,000 to 38,000 USD. This range is commensurate with the candidate's experience, qualifications, and the specific responsibilities of the role. The compensation package includes a competitive base salary, pension contributions, medical insurance, and a phone allowance.
