Job Summary

Anchor Light Search Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Sales Engineer to join a well-established manufacturer's representative firm specializing in bulk solids process equipment and engineered material handling systems. This is a remote, field-based role covering Southern California, including San Bernardino County, with minimal overnight travel and mostly local day trips. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, preferably a Mechanical Engineering degree, and proven experience selling capital equipment or engineered systems to industrial plants. This is a consultative, application-driven sales role where you will partner with plant-level decision makers to solve real operational challenges. The position offers significant growth potential, a company vehicle, and 100% paid family medical coverage. If you are a self-motivated technical professional looking to make a direct impact in a thriving industrial sector, this opportunity is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Call on plant managers, maintenance leaders, operations managers, and engineers within target industries including mineral processing, agriculture, cement, concrete, asphalt, fresh food processing, and chemical processing.
  • Walk processing facilities to understand material flow, identify operational needs, and assess process bottlenecks.
  • Review process flow diagrams, P&IDs, layouts, and technical drawings to recommend appropriate engineered solutions.
  • Interpret customer requirements and translate them into technical proposals, quotes, and equipment specifications.
  • Respond to RFQs and manage the full sales cycle from initial inquiry to close.
  • Collaborate closely with internal engineering teams and manufacturer partners to ensure solutions are feasible and cost-effective.
  • Manage and grow a defined territory through a balance of existing account maintenance and new business development.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers to become a trusted advisor for their process equipment needs.
  • Provide technical presentations and product demonstrations to prospective clients, highlighting the value of engineered solutions.
  • Stay current with industry trends, competitor offerings, and technological advances in bulk solids handling and material processing.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and CRM records.
  • Work independently as a remote employee while maintaining consistent communication with the home office and manufacturer partners.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is strongly preferred; Electrical Engineering degree is also acceptable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical sales of industrial equipment, capital equipment, or engineered systems.
  • Proven track record of calling on industrial plants and end users in process industries.
  • Strong application engineering knowledge and the ability to understand complex plant processes.
  • Demonstrated consultative selling skills; transactional sales experience is not sufficient.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined, with the ability to manage a territory independently without direct supervision.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally within Southern California on a daily basis.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and process flow diagrams.
  • Experience with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Open to alternative backgrounds: candidates without an engineering degree but with strong technical sales experience in similar plant environments will be considered.
