Job Summary

Saicon is seeking experienced Power Systems Software Engineers to support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of advanced grid management and energy market software solutions. This remote, contract role is ideal for professionals who possess a unique blend of power systems domain expertise and software development experience. You will work on high-availability electricity market and grid operations platforms, collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Enhance, evolve, and support high-availability electricity market and grid management software applications.
  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot power systems application functionality to ensure optimal performance.
  • Participate in software design, development, testing, implementation, and production support activities.
  • Create code fixes, model conversion tools, documentation, and user interface enhancements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile development environment to deliver projects on schedule.
  • Support software implementations and project delivery activities, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Analyze and resolve technical issues impacting power system applications, minimizing downtime.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of software performance, quality, and reliability through proactive monitoring and code reviews.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in Power Systems Analysis, including load flow, contingency analysis, and state estimation.
  • Experience with Power Systems Application Software Development and Implementation in real-world utility environments.
  • Knowledge of electricity markets, grid operations, or energy management systems (EMS).
  • Hands-on software development experience in one or more of the following: Java, C, .NET.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a track record of resolving complex technical issues.
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments, including Scrum or Kanban.
  • Preferred: Experience with Security Constrained Unit Commitment (SCUC), Economic Dispatch, Mixed Integer Programming (MIP), Optimization algorithms, Applied Mathematics, or Operations Research.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting Energy Management Systems (EMS), grid software, or related utility applications.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of grid modernization, stability, and integrated grid solutions.

Skills Inventory
