Key Responsibilities

• Source and procure goods and services in strict alignment with company procurement policies, ensuring the best value for money.
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, pricing, and terms to achieve favorable conditions for the organization.
• Create, process, and manage purchase orders (POs) from requisition through to delivery, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Coordinate with internal departments to forecast demand, plan procurement schedules, and maintain optimal stock levels to prevent shortages or overstock.
• Analyze supplier performance metrics, including delivery times, quality, and cost, and initiate corrective actions or improvements as needed.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive procurement documentation, including contracts, supplier agreements, bid evaluations, and compliance records.
• Support cost optimization initiatives by conducting market research, benchmarking prices, and identifying savings opportunities.
• Ensure full compliance with procurement laws, company policies, and ethical standards; assist in internal and external audits.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure seamless inbound and outbound material flows.
• Identify and onboard new suppliers, vetting them for financial stability, quality certifications, and reliability.
• Resolve procurement-related issues, such as delays, discrepancies, or quality concerns, in a timely and professional manner.
• Participate in tender processes, including preparation of request for quotations (RFQs), evaluation of bids, and award recommendations.
• Generate and present procurement reports, KPI dashboards, and spend analysis to management on a regular basis.
• Stay updated on market trends, commodity prices, and regulatory changes that may affect procurement strategies.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a closely related field from a recognized institution.
• A minimum of 3 years of progressive procurement experience within a reputable organization, preferably in manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial sectors.
• Must be a registered member of the Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board (PSPTB) in Tanzania.
• Demonstrated ability to manage end-to-end procurement cycles, from sourcing to contract close-out.
• Proven experience in supplier negotiation, contract management, and performance evaluation.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili.
• High level of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct in all business dealings.

Skills Inventory

• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) for procurement and inventory management.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis) and PowerPoint.
• Strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
• Understanding of international and local procurement regulations, including public procurement frameworks (if applicable).
• Supplier relationship management (SRM) and strategic sourcing expertise.
• Knowledge of inventory management principles (JIT, EOQ, safety stock).
• Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks under pressure.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and reporting.
• Team collaboration and cross-functional communication skills.
• Familiarity with tender processes, bid evaluation, and contract law basics.

Salary & Compensation Estimation

Based on industry standards for a mid-level Procurement Officer in Dar es Salaam, and considering the company's reputation as a major employer, the estimated annual salary range is between 12,000,000 and 18,000,000 Tanzanian Shillings (TZS), depending on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits may include performance bonuses, health insurance, transport allowance, and contributions to the National Social Security Fund (NSSF). For expatriate or highly experienced candidates, the package may be adjusted upward.
