Job Summary

Bright Vision Technologies, a leading technology consulting and software development firm, is seeking an experienced IoT Engineer specializing in Industrial IoT (IIoT) to join our remote team. This full-time, direct W2 position offers an exceptional opportunity to architect and deliver connected, data-driven industrial solutions that bridge the gap between factory floor operations and enterprise cloud platforms. As an IoT Engineer, you will design end-to-end IIoT systems, from edge data acquisition and secure connectivity to cloud ingestion, real-time analytics, and operational dashboards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and drive innovation in industrial automation. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with 6+ years of experience who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and is passionate about transforming industrial processes through cutting-edge technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement comprehensive Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions that integrate edge devices, industrial protocols, and cloud platforms.
  • Develop and deploy edge computing applications using runtimes such as AWS IoT Greengrass or Azure IoT Edge to enable local data processing and real-time decision-making.
  • Design secure and reliable data pipelines for ingesting sensor data from industrial equipment into cloud-based IoT platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Implement and manage industrial communication protocols, including OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, and Sparkplug B, to ensure seamless connectivity between OT and IT systems.
  • Build real-time analytics and monitoring solutions using streaming platforms and time-series databases to provide actionable insights for operations teams.
  • Develop and maintain operational dashboards that visualize equipment health, performance metrics, and predictive maintenance alerts.
  • Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and operations stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable and robust IoT solutions.
  • Conduct code reviews, design reviews, and provide technical mentorship to junior engineers, raising the overall engineering bar within the team.
  • Apply industrial cybersecurity standards (IEC 62443, ISA) to protect OT environments and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
  • Document system architectures, configuration guides, and troubleshooting procedures to support operational excellence and knowledge transfer.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years focused on IIoT or industrial software systems.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C+, or Go, with a proven track record of delivering production-grade software.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial protocols including OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, and Sparkplug B.
  • Experience with at least one major cloud IoT platform (AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT Hub, or GCP IoT Core).
  • Practical experience with edge runtimes such as AWS Greengrass or Azure IoT Edge.
  • Solid understanding of OT/IT integration patterns, including network segmentation and data governance.
  • Familiarity with streaming and real-time analytics platforms such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Spark Streaming.
  • Knowledge of industrial cybersecurity best practices and frameworks (IEC 62443).
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Skills Inventory

  • Essential: Python, C+, or Go for backend and edge development.
  • Essential: Industrial protocols (OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, Sparkplug B).
  • Essential: Cloud IoT platforms (AWS IoT, Azure IoT, GCP IoT).
  • Essential: Edge computing runtimes (Greengrass, IoT Edge).
  • Essential: Real-time data streaming and analytics.
  • Preferred: Digital twin platforms and simulation tools.
  • Preferred: Predictive maintenance machine learning models.
  • Preferred: Time-series databases (InfluxDB, TimescaleDB).
  • Preferred: Unified Namespace (UNS) architectural patterns.
  • Preferred: Industrial certifications such as ISA or IEC 62443.

Salary & Compensation Estimation
