Procurement Intern

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the day-to-day procurement operations, including processing purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
• Support the Procurement Supervisor in sourcing and evaluating potential suppliers, ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Maintain and update procurement records, ensuring accurate documentation of all transactions.
• Coordinate with internal departments to understand their procurement needs and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
• Participate in the negotiation process with suppliers, aiming to secure favorable terms and pricing.
• Monitor inventory levels and assist in the development of reorder points to prevent stockouts.
• Prepare and organize tender documents, bid evaluations, and contract files.
• Liaise with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure smooth receipt and inspection of delivered goods.
• Assist in the reconciliation of invoices and resolving any discrepancies with suppliers.
• Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, market trends, and pricing benchmarks.
• Support the implementation of procurement policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance.
• Handle administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and preparing reports as required.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Strong academic record with a keen interest in procurement and supply chain functions.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when required.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
• Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards in handling confidential information.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional demeanor and a proactive attitude toward learning.
• Previous internship or volunteer experience in a related field is an added advantage.
