Job Summary
This is a rare opportunity to join a leading technology company at the forefront of the global AI economy. As a Software Engineer in Infrastructure, you will play a pivotal role in building the software that powers and automates network operations across hyperscale data centers. The company is expanding rapidly and needs an engineer who can design, build, and operate reliable services that manage the entire network lifecycle, from initial provisioning to ongoing optimization and incident response. You will work closely with network engineers and site reliability engineers (SREs) to transform operational challenges into elegant, automated solutions. This remote-first role offers the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to infrastructure that supports cutting-edge AI workloads. If you are passionate about infrastructure, automation, and solving complex problems at scale, this position provides an exceptional platform for growth and impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain services and tools that automate the network lifecycle, including day-0 provisioning, day-N configuration changes, fault detection, and operational verification.
- Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) workflows for network changes, incorporating diff/review tooling, staged rollouts, rollbacks, and comprehensive audit trails to ensure safety and transparency.
- Build and enhance observability systems that provide end-to-end visibility across multiple data center sites, including telemetry pipelines, signal aggregation, and tooling that accelerates incident investigation and resolution.
- Bridge the gap between network infrastructure and the broader platform by establishing a single source of truth for network data, exposing relevant APIs, and creating reliable automation around these integrations.
- Collaborate closely with network engineers and SREs to identify operational pain points and translate them into product-grade tooling that improves efficiency and reduces manual toil.
- Ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of all infrastructure services, taking ownership of code from design through deployment and ongoing operations.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices, including code reviews, testing strategies, and documentation.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support the services you build, troubleshooting issues and implementing fixes as needed.
- Stay current with emerging technologies in networking, automation, and software engineering to recommend and implement innovative solutions.
Role Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. A degree is not mandatory if you have strong hands-on experience.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, or an equivalent practical background demonstrating strong coding and system design skills.
- Proficiency in Go is strongly preferred, with a willingness to adopt it if not already a primary language. Python is also acceptable, and familiarity with other languages (e.g., C, C+) is a plus for debugging and contributing to open-source software.
- While a deep networking background is not required, a genuine interest in infrastructure and networking is essential. Experience as a network engineer, holding certifications like CCNP, or having exposure to data center networking is a significant advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in building automation tooling such as CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), testing/staging environments, or network-as-code workflows.
- Exposure to low-level networking or high-performance packet processing technologies such as eBPF/XDP, DPDK, kernel networking, or traffic processing systems is preferred.
- Experience designing high-load services and observability platforms, including metrics, logs, traces, alerting, and regression detection.
- Contributions to open-source projects or experience extending and debugging open-source components in production environments.
Skills Inventory
- Strong programming skills in Go or Python, with a track record of shipping and operating reliable services.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and tooling, including version control, automated testing, and deployment pipelines.
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
- Familiarity with observability stacks like Prometheus, Grafana, the ELK stack, or similar monitoring and logging solutions.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes, is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex distributed systems.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
- A growth mindset, eager to learn new technologies and domains.
