Technical Officer

Job Summary

The French School of Accra is seeking a dedicated and skilled Technical Officer to ensure the seamless technical operation of our school campus. This full-time role is central to maintaining a safe, functional, and efficient learning environment for students and staff. You will oversee all technical maintenance, manage construction and repair projects, and coordinate with external suppliers. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the routine maintenance and servicing of all technical equipment, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
• Monitor and coordinate repair, reconstruction, and expansion work, both minor and major, to maintain school infrastructure.
• Conduct regular technical audits to assess equipment condition and identify areas for improvement.
• Formulate and propose mid to long-term maintenance plans, prioritizing projects based on urgency and impact.
• Design clear terms of reference for outsourced projects, specifying scope, deliverables, and timelines.
• Identify, contact, and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiating to select the most cost-effective and reliable partner.
• Plan and implement projects, coordinating all stakeholders and monitoring progress against set milestones.
• Validate handovers and final deliveries to ensure work meets quality standards and safety regulations.
• Respond promptly to urgent technical issues, minimizing disruption to school activities.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and supplier contracts.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma of higher education for technicians or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven professional experience in a similar technical role, preferably in an institutional or educational setting.
• Strong manual skills and proficiency in using maintenance and repair tools.
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, generators, boreholes, painting, fire safety, and construction works.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
• Valid certification in relevant technical fields (e.g., electrical, plumbing) is an advantage.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations is required.

Salary & Compensation Estimation

Based on the location (Accra, Ghana) and the scope of responsibilities, the estimated annual salary for a Technical Officer ranges from GHS 60,000 to GHS 90,000 (approximately USD 5,000 to 7,500).
