Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust software applications that support MTN’s digital services, including mobile money platforms, value-added services, and internal tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, UI/UX designers, and quality assurance engineers, to deliver high-quality solutions on schedule.

Role Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. A master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in software development, with a proven track record of delivering production-ready applications.
- Strong experience with one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience with agile development methodologies (Scrum or Kanban) and familiarity with tools like Jira or Trello.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and writing efficient queries.
- Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git, and collaborative development workflows.
- Knowledge of web frameworks such as Spring Boot, Django, Node.js, or similar.
- Understanding of RESTful API design and integration, and microservices architecture.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization tools like Docker is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in local languages is a plus.

Salary & Compensation Estimation
Based on industry standards for software engineers in Uganda and MTN’s compensation structure, the estimated annual base salary for this role ranges from 50,000,000 to 80,000,000 UGX (approximately USD 13,500 to USD 21,500). This estimate accounts for the candidate’s experience level, with senior engineers earning at the higher end. MTN Uganda also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings contributions, performance bonuses, and professional development allowances. Actual compensation will be aligned with the company’s pay scales and the selected candidate’s qualifications.
