SAMORA, a rapidly growing food value network in Tanzania, is seeking a dedicated and strategic Procurement Officer to join our dynamic team based in Mbezi Beach, Dar es Salaam. Key Responsibilities

• Source and purchase livestock, meat products, and other essential procurement items to meet operational demands and maintain optimal inventory levels.
• Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with farmers, aggregators, suppliers, and processors to facilitate smooth and reliable procurement processes.
• Negotiate competitive prices and favorable purchasing terms to optimize costs while ensuring quality standards are consistently met.
• Monitor market trends, including price fluctuations, supply availability, and market dynamics, to inform and adapt procurement strategies.
• Coordinate procurement plans with production, sales, and logistics teams to align supply chain activities and achieve business objectives.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements in all procurement activities.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, including contracts, purchase orders, and supplier performance evaluations.
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including alternative sourcing options to prevent disruptions.
• Collaborate with finance to manage procurement budgets and ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement processes and operational efficiency.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. However, candidates with equivalent professional experience will also be considered, as no specific degree is mentioned in the job description.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the agricultural, food processing, or livestock industry.
• Proven experience in sourcing and purchasing livestock or perishable goods is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of procurement principles, supply chain management, and contract negotiation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with diverse stakeholders, including farmers, suppliers, and internal teams.

• Familiarity with procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is an added advantage.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to supplier locations as needed.
• Flexibility to work outside standard working hours, including weekends or early mornings, to meet operational demands.
