POST: Machine Operator

NUMBER OF VACANCIES: 01

AGE LIMIT: 20 years and above

  • Operate and monitor assigned production machinery to ensure efficient and uninterrupted manufacturing processes, adhering to strict quality and safety standards.
  • Conduct pre-operation inspections, including checking machine settings, lubricants, and safety guards, to confirm readiness and compliance with operational protocols.
  • Set up machines according to job specifications, including adjusting speed, feed rates, and tooling, to achieve precise output and minimize material waste.
  • Load raw materials into machines and unload finished products, verifying weights, dimensions, and quality against defined specifications using calibrated measuring tools.
  • Monitor machine performance during operation, identifying and troubleshooting minor issues such as jams, misalignments, or deviations in output, and escalate complex problems to senior technicians.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts, to extend equipment life and reduce downtime.
  • Document production data accurately, including output quantities, downtime incidents, and quality control results, in logs and digital systems for reporting and analysis.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, including wearing required personal protective equipment and maintaining a clean, organized work area to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with occupational health standards.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily production targets, communicate process improvements, and support cross-functional operational goals.
  • Participate in training sessions and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance technical skills, stay updated on equipment upgrades, and contribute to operational excellence.
  • Maintain inventory levels of consumables and spare parts, reporting shortages to management to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
  • Support quality assurance by conducting regular checks on finished products, rejecting non-conforming items, and initiating corrective actions as needed.
  • Assist in the onboarding of new machine operators by demonstrating proper procedures and sharing best practices for efficient machine handling.
  • Ensure timely handover of shift tasks, including updating logs and communicating outstanding issues to incoming operators for seamless transitions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field from a recognized institution.
  • At least two years of proven experience operating industrial machinery in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of machine setup, calibration, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges for quality verification.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to detect subtle deviations in machine performance or product quality.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to stand for extended periods, lift heavy materials up to 25 kilograms, and perform repetitive tasks safely.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and supervisors.
  • Willingness to work in rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays as required.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment, with a proactive approach to hazard identification and reporting.
  • Basic computer literacy for entering production data into digital systems and generating simple reports.
  • Valid certification in first aid or machine safety is an added advantage.
  • Age of 20 years and above, as specified in the job advertisement.
  • Must be a citizen of the country or hold valid work authorization as per local regulations.
