Job Summary

Mventech Group, a dynamic mining and resources consulting firm headquartered in Centurion, Gauteng, is seeking an experienced Study Manager to lead multidisciplinary mining and mineral processing studies from Concept through Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS). As Study Manager, you will be the primary interface between clients and engineering teams, ensuring technical excellence, commercial performance, and governance throughout the study lifecycle. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary study teams through the entire study lifecycle, from Concept to Definitive Feasibility Study.
  • Develop and implement the Study Execution Plan, defining study objectives, scope, and deliverables.
  • Establish governance and reporting structures to ensure compliance with company methodologies and industry best practice.
  • Drive collaboration across all engineering disciplines to achieve integrated and robust study outcomes.
  • Manage study schedules and budgets, coordinating engineering activities and monitoring progress against key milestones.
  • Identify and manage study risks and opportunities, resolving technical and commercial issues that could impact delivery.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of all study deliverables, maintaining high standards of technical excellence.
  • Act as the primary client representative, building and maintaining strong relationships and managing expectations through effective communication.
  • Facilitate workshops, review meetings, and Steering Committees, presenting study outcomes and recommendations to clients.
  • Manage study budgets and profitability, monitoring resource utilisation and controlling scope changes.
  • Support proposal preparation and business development activities, identifying opportunities for follow-on work.
  • Lead technical reviews and design integration, challenging engineering solutions to maximise value and facilitate trade-off studies.
  • Mentor Project Managers and Project Engineers, coaching junior engineers and fostering a high-performance team culture.
  • Support recruitment and resource planning to ensure the study team is appropriately staffed.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Engineering.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Project Management, or Business Management is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in mining, mineral processing, or engineering consulting.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary Concept, Pre-Feasibility, and Feasibility Studies.
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and strong client-facing capabilities.
  • Solid commercial and project delivery experience, with a track record of delivering studies on schedule and within budget.

Skills Inventory

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and SharePoint.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Project for schedule management.
  • Experience with Primavera (advantageous).
  • Familiarity with Power BI for data analysis and reporting (advantageous).

Salary & Compensation Estimation

For a Study Manager with over 10 years of experience in the South African mining consulting sector, the expected annual base salary ranges from ZAR 1,200,000 to ZAR 1,800,000, depending on qualifications and project portfolio. In addition to base salary, Mventech offers performance-based bonuses, retirement fund contributions, medical aid benefits, and opportunities for professional development. The role may also include travel allowances for site visits, given the project nature. This compensation is competitive within the Centurion region and reflects the seniority and impact of the position.
