Job Summary

OnTheGoSystems is seeking an experienced and highly motivated AI-Native Software Developer to join our fully remote, international team. You will have the autonomy to take full ownership of your projects, designing AI workflows, implementing validation checks, ensuring quality, and monitoring performance in production. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and ship software features end-to-end, taking full ownership from idea to production, with AI as an integral part of the workflow.
• Architect and implement AI-driven workflows that enhance development efficiency, code quality, and product functionality.
• Write complex SQL queries and design efficient database schemas to support robust application features.
• Develop and maintain back-end systems, primarily using Ruby on Rails or other back-end frameworks, ensuring high performance and scalability.
• Create and execute automated tests and validation checks to guarantee the reliability and quality of your code before and after deployment.
• Monitor software performance in production using observability tools, identify bottlenecks, and proactively implement improvements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional team members, including product managers and other developers, to align on requirements and deliver exceptional software solutions.
• Continuously evaluate and adopt new AI tools and practices to optimize the development process and product outcomes.
• Document technical designs, workflows, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing and maintainability.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers and incorporating feedback on your own work to maintain high standards.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

• Proven experience as a software developer, with a strong portfolio of shipped products or projects.
• Hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails or other back-end languages and frameworks such as Python, Node.js, or Go.
• Profound SQL knowledge, including schema design and complex query writing, with the ability to optimize database performance.
• Demonstrated experience using AI as a system, not just as a chat interface, to complete end-to-end development tasks; must have something impressive to show for it.
• A strong habit of testing your own work, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, with a genuine care for quality.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment, managing your time effectively and communicating asynchronously with an international team.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a mindset of continuous learning and improvement.
• No formal degree is required; we value practical experience and demonstrable skills over academic credentials.

Skills Inventory

Essential Skills:

• Back-end development with Ruby on Rails or similar frameworks.
• Advanced SQL and database design.
